I feel like jumping in celebration.

Well friends, 5 years later and here I am....a college graduate!  I wish I could say that it was the easiest most enjoyable 5 years of my life....but in all honesty it was hard, exhausting, sometimes emotional, yet fun and interesting at the same time.  I really enjoyed the classes that I took, even though getting through them took a lot of work to get through.  I can't lie, I cried a little bit the other day in my car (not balling tears, just a little teary eyed) when I thought that it was the last final that I was going to have to take, the last day that I had to go to class.  I kept saying oh yea after break, or when I start school in January...no, no its not school, its the real world.  Scary!  Wow. My undergrad career is over!  Here are some pictures throughout my college life:

My Bid Night.  My first year and quarter at Cal Poly.  The first official day I hung out with my new ZTA sisters!

One of the many Greek Weeks.  Food fair day...selling snow cones on a VERY hot day!

Here we are making a balloon arch for recruitment.  I have made too many to count...I wonder if that is a skill  I can add to a resume?

At the end of one of the Greek Weeks.  I feel like this is an iconic picture with the CLA building in the back.  (We won Greek week 4 years in a row!)

Another Bid Day

One of the many trips that I took up to Nor Cal with some sisters.  How very convenient that my sorority sister happened to have a limo in her garage!

In an elevator getting ready for the ZTA formal.

A random day on Campus...most likely during U-hour.

My Pledge sisters.  Fall '05 or rather Fall O' Fabulous!

Wow! Lots of pictures!  I really had a fun time in college overall.  And now its over.  I'm ready for some new adventures!

Think Pink.

It's nearly half way through Breast Cancer Awareness and Education month, and I think that I have rather successfully steered clear of spending all of my money on anything with a pink ribbon on it (but there is still half a month left to go)!  It is really hard not spend all my money when it is for such a good cause!  Some other ways to help without breaking the bank? Save and send in your pink Yoplait yogurt lids and click daily.
It was also recruitment this weekend for my Zeta Sisters.  This is one of the boards that they used for the first day of recruitment, since our philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness and Education.  Congrats girls on the new ZTA's coming in!

The weekend.

This weekend was jam packed with fun!  Friday night I had been looking forward to for quite awhile.  It was my friends' birthday...and they had a lovely party.  I got to meet my friend's boyfriend (finally!) he lives in Paris, France!  They tried to get me to speak french, but I was too embarrassed...my french is more than bad!  Then Saturday we all went to the Greek Festival in Covina.  It was amazing...the food, the music, the atmosphere!  I loved it all!

I had the vegetarian plate.

Then, this morning my family and I got up real early and headed down to Fashion Island for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  I LOVE Race for the Cure...I wish that we had more time to walk around but I had to go to work pretty much right after...so that will have to wait till next year!  I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Birthdays and Weddings.

This weekend has been full of celebration.  On Saturday, my whole family got together my Meemaw's 75th birthday.  It is really hard these days getting everyone together since we are now getting old...getting married...and having kids of our own.  It was really fun getting to see everyone together again!  The weekend was full of laughing, catching up, eating, and swimming.  My favorite part was the water fight that broke out...hoses...buckets...ice water...so much fun.

Then on Sunday one of my ZTA sorority sisters had her wedding.  She and her now husband have been dating for 10 years!  It is so cool to be able to see them finally tie the knot!  Her wedding was in Pismo Beach, so my sister and I drove up together.

The drive was so beautiful, and we had a lot of fun?  If you call a bit of traffic fun...at least we got to drive along the coast!  The way back was a breeze, although I wish we could have stayed longer!  Till next time I suppose.

Day 26: If I had 15 minutes to evacuate my home before it was destroyed, what 10 things would I bring (not including pets or people).

Wow! 10 things is actually a lot...I don't think that I would be able to carry 10 things out the door!  But...then again I would have fifteen minutes!

1.) Photo albums/ Pictures

2.) This Teddy Bear that my Meemaw made me when I was born

3.) The ZTA Quilt that my mom made me with all the shirts that I had collected.

4.) A few of my favorite books.

5.) My journals and diaries.

6.) My ipod and earphones

7.) This necklace and earring set that my Meemaw gave me many, many years ago.  She got it when she went to the Holy Land, and apparently the gems are from Solomons mine.

I've never worn them...hence why they are still in the baggie

8.) Probably some clothes.

9.) I seem to have run out of important things! But I think this is a good list!  If the situation were to arise I'm sure that there are many more things that I would want to add...but these would definitely make the cut!

Day 24: Relationships that have had the greatest impact on my life.

There are my friends, and friends, and friends, and friends, and friends.

There are people I've only run into once.

There is my family, and mom and meemaw, and nieces, and sister, and sisters.

There are fictional characters who shape my own life.

There are people I have never met.

There are professors and other teachers who inspire me and encourage me.

Day 15: Sisters

I have 65 sisters.  Not even joking.  They are my ZTA sisters, and I love them all so much. Today is my sister squared's birthday.  She is the ripe age of 26 ye.  I have written about her before...and all those tips still hold true today.  We fight about the oddest things...but I suppose that that is what sisters do.  I remember one time we were on a family cruise vacation, and we got into a big fight.  I can't even remember what it was about, but I remember grabbing my purse... storming out of the cabin and going over to my parents suite.  Jamie calls on the phone to the room.  She tells me to look at my purse.  I accidentally took her purse instead! (An easy mistake since we had identical purses!)  It was much funnier than how it seems here.  But that was the end of our fight.  Too many fights to even write or remember.  Now for some embarrassing photos of us when we were younger....Enjoy!

She's hated me since the beginning!

One of these days I will figure out the scanner!

Day 3: Generalizations are... and Random Finds #6

"All Generalizations are bad"
-R.H. Grenier

This is one of my favorite quotes.  It sums up a lot of notions about generalizations....and I like the play on words.  I think that sometimes generalizations are OK, for example: I generally use commas like confetti. It doesn't mean that I, always, use, a lot, of, commas, (Side note:  I turned in my final paper in class and really tried hard to not use too many commas and to use them properly, but then I got it back and there were so many commas that I needed to use!  I think I am getting the hang of it though!).  But lumping people into one way of being is not the way to use generalization.  For myself I know that this is hard to catch in some instances when it would be easier to generalize...But I think that I am getting better at this more than I am for my comma usage!

Here are some random finds for you to enjoy :-)

I just might have to make these!

I would like this shirt....and this ring...and this bracelet.

Wow...are you kidding me?

Maybe if I hadn't stopped playing the piano I would be like this guy right now...sigh....minus the crazy hair.... Or maybe even this guy...Look at that crazy left hand! again, minus the crazy hair.

Day 2: A photo of something I do in the Summer to keep cool.

When I was little, my sister and I would spend ALL day swimming during the Summer...the ends of our brunette hair turned green.  We would make up games, but my sister always made sure that I was the inferior...for example: we would play mermaid, and I couldn't be Ariel because "I didn't sing good enough."  This coming from the judge who wanted to be Ariel herself.  But that's OK because my cousin and I would make her be Norma while I was April.  Not that these past few days have been especially hot...considering June Gloom and all, but I think that it would be a good idea to start thinking of some things to keep cool in hotter summer days.

Strawberries (ZTA favorites!) are perfect for those hot days (did you know that it is strawberry season? my favorite time of the year!)  And perhaps making your own Popsicles to keep cool? I like watching Lily eat Popsicles, she always has a huge red/ purple/ green (whatever color the Popsicle is) stain on her clothes...so precious.  I remember being a kid drinking red juice all day with the result of two side mustaches.  This summer i think that my nieces will be over a lot more for swimming...Lily is getting really good at it!

I decided to do a little creating this morning, and this is what I came up with.  Happy Sunday everyone!
Watercolor paper, charcoal, acrylic paint, stamps, puffy paint.

Pink Ribbon? Yes Please.

I have this uncontrollable urge to buy anything that has a Pink Ribbon on it.  I was at the grocery store today, and I was debating at which applesauce to buy.  Instead of deciding which brand or flavor to buy based on personal preference, or even price...I opted for the one with the Pink Ribbon on it.  This happens for many products, rather clever marketing.  October is an especially bad time to have this weakness since it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  But I think that out of all things to have a weakness for this is for a good cause!  I love the Susan G. Komen foundation, and the Breast Cancer Site.  Remember to click the Breast Cancer Site daily in support of free mammograms for everyone.  I miss being able to work the survivor tent during Race for the Cure with the other ZTA's!  I think I will just have to start actually participating in the race, and then visit the girls at the tent!

This is kind of old, but I still like it.

Super old pic of Fall O'Fabulous!
Good Luck During Greek Week Sisters!

Getting Away...

This weekend I took a road trip up to Brentwood, in northern California. 5 girls in a Jetta for 5 hours...not as bad as it sounds. We stayed at one of my ZTA sisters house, needless to say it is HUGE! and I do not think that word can even remotely describe the size of this house.

We arrived late on Friday, her parents were so accommodating, and even had dinner ready for us when we got there. Her parents are the kindest people ever. They were so sweet and made us feel at home. Saturday morning we woke up, and her mom had bought us bagels for breakfast. We took our time getting ready, and then headed over to Hannah Nicole Vineyards for wine tasting.

It was only down the street (did I mention that my friend lives, and practically all her neighbors, on 10 acres, so down the street is a not that close) but we took a limo anyways, and we got to taste several different wines.

We headed back to her house and hung out for a while. That night we went to my friend's friend's house (sorry a little confusing!)for a birthday celebration. Then we headed to a local bar and went dancing. It was the most fun night. The next morning her mom had made us the most delicious Mexican breakfast. Her dad took out one of the horses and had it dance for us, and watched the other horses run around and play together.

We then, got ready and piled back into the tiny Jetta and headed for home. It was great to get away, and the most enjoyable weekend. I had so much fun relaxing, going out, taking naps, talking, listening, spending time with my sisters and getting out of my normal routine.
